📋 Description

• Lead the conceptualization, iteration, and delivery of sophisticated editorial designs for Meridian, a digital and print magazine, encompassing engaging illustrations, data visualizations, and video editing support across diverse storytelling platforms.

• Direct and oversee the creation of original artwork, collaborating with illustrators, photographers, and other creative professionals to breathe life into the narrative vision of stories.

• Provide support during photo and video shoots, offering guidance on visual direction and working closely with the production team to actualize the creative vision.

• Develop a deep understanding of Mercury's brand, storytelling approach, and audience to craft visuals that strategically resonate and enhance our content.

• Influence and motivate the broader design team and cross-functional partners with your refined taste, clear art direction, and meticulous execution.

• Manage multiple projects effectively from concept to final execution, maintaining clear timelines and a composed demeanor throughout.

• Collaborate proactively and communicate effectively in an environment that values diverse perspectives, creativity, and innovation.


⛳️ Requirements

• Possess 5+ years of professional experience in graphic design, illustration, and art direction, preferably within editorial, digital storytelling, or content-driven settings.

• Showcase a standout portfolio featuring sophisticated brand design projects, thoughtful art direction, impactful illustrations, and elegant data visualizations.

• Demonstrate expertise in guiding creative vision with a discerning taste, capable of enhancing narratives through visual storytelling.

• Display comfort and curiosity in exploring new visual approaches and embracing ambiguity to drive innovative outcomes.

• Have experience working on print magazines and preparing production-ready print files, proficient in print tools like Adobe InDesign, and well-versed in prepress best practices.

• Exhibit a commitment to design excellence with meticulous attention to detail.

• Possess strong communication skills, adept at clearly articulating concepts, ideas, and creative decisions to internal teams and external partners.

• Be proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and have familiarity with video editing tools, with a preference for expertise in motion design.

• Show a passion for collaborating closely with fellow designers and cross-functional partners to enhance storytelling and elevate creative execution.
