Remote Jobs
📋 Description
WHO ARE BRIGHTROCK GAMES?
• We are a plucky independent fully-remote video game studio based in Brighton, UK, and makers of widely praised and highly-rated Galacticare and War for the Overworld.
• The core team has joined together from all over the world because of a shared passion for building brighter universes.
• Our goal is to continue creating genre-twisting 3D simulation and management games; and if we can do it with a quirkily British sense of humour, then all the better!
We are looking for a Senior Game Designer to join our core team full-time and help develop the Next Big Thing™ from Brightrock Games!
• You will be joining a highly passionate, closely-knit team of developers creating games in some of the most rewarding and deep genres – simulation, RTS and management – and you’ll have the opportunity to work on smaller projects in a wider variety of genres along the way.
Responsibilities:
• As Senior Game Designer, you will:
• Work alongside the Creative Director and design team to drive the vision, features and content of one or more of our projects
• Collaborate with the wider team to iterate on features, oversee implementation and consult on asset creation related to your designs
🎯 Requirements
About You
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to succinctly and concisely communicate both your ideas and the ideas of others to a wide variety of different audiences
• A laser focus on the player and their experience when designing features, systems and content
• An understanding of the scope and production impact of features you work on, and the knock-on effects of the decisions you may make
• A passion for working in a small indie game development team, where collaboration matters more than titles, and everyone contributes to creating something special
• A strong interest in and understanding of strategy and management games
• Hands-on experience working in-engine to implement content and balance systems
• A high attention to detail and an analytical attitude towards playing games
• Strong work ethic, proactive attitude, good time management and strong organisational skills
• 5+ years in game design roles
• At least two shipped PC or console games
Desirable:
• Experience designing, testing and balancing deep & technical gameplay systems (eg: a character needs system in a management game)
• Experience with level design
• Experience working on Unity projects
• Experience working with Confluence & Jira
• At least one shipped title in the strategy or management space
• 100m³ of Unobtainium
